To see Edam from a different perspective why not take a one-hour tour by boat? The tour takes you along the canals in a traditional Dutch ‘Cow’ boat or ‘Praam’. You’ll pass impressive houses with national monument status and see a range of traditional Dutch gables including the ‘Clock’, ‘Spout’ and ‘Frame’. You’ll pass under Edam’s quaint bridges and along the banks of canals where you’ll see old cheese warehouses still standing after several centuries.
An experienced tour guide will share fascinating facts about one of the Netherlands’ famous historical gems. Tours are provided in Dutch, English, German, and French and are available from mid-April until the end of September. Tours can be booked through the Tourist Information Office ‘VVV’ in the old City Hall on Dam Square.
