B&Bs in the Green Peat Meadow Area of the Zeevang
A night away, a weekend, or a midweek in the Zeevang offers plenty to see and do, whether for a short or longer period. If you want to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this area, choose to stay with the locals at one of the beautiful B&Bs listed below. Each of these B&Bs is a real gem where you will have a wonderful time. To make your choice easier or perhaps harder, I will tell you more about these different B&Bs in this blog. Of course, I have personally visited these B&Bs, and it was such a fun experience! A few mini vacations in the area right next to the village where you live—it was a unique experience but definitely worth it. Enough chatting; let me share my findings below.
Bed & Breakfast Zonneweelde:
This B&B is located in Oosthuizen on the Oosteinde road. The B&B, or rather the small guesthouse, is situated in a completely renovated farmhouse and features eight beautifully furnished rooms, each with a bathroom. Breakfast is served in the cozy breakfast room, offering a fantastic view of the Dutch polder landscape. What I personally found very enjoyable was the recreation room, where you can sit in the evening, play a game, and enjoy a drink and a snack. The B&B is centrally located, and with a rental bike available through the B&B, you can easily explore the beautiful surroundings.
B&B ‘Vivre’:
This is a unique B&B located in Warder in a semi-gabled farmhouse from 1890 on the Warder Road. The slogan of this B&B is: "Enjoy…Live…Free…Experience…Let Go," and you can certainly do all that here. The rooms offer views of the fields and the dyke of the Markermeer, which can even be seen from the bathroom. Before you know it, you might be face-to-face with a cow or a sheep. It does not get more Dutch than this. The old beams on the ceiling give the rooms a cozy atmosphere. This is a beautiful contrast between old and new, as the rooms have been completely renovated and equipped with all modern conveniences. In the morning, breakfast is almost served in bed. It is waiting for you just around the corner of the door, and it is very extensive, prepared with various local products. What more could you want? Perhaps a sauna and a jacuzzi? Those are also available at this B&B, for a fee, but definitely worth it!
B&B D’Oude Backerij:
This B&B is located in a detached romantic coach house of about 40m². A great advantage of this B&B is the privacy. The house features a small kitchen, a bathroom, and a cozy sitting area with an adjoining outdoor terrace. This B&B is located in Beets, in a green area from which you can easily explore the surroundings on foot or by bike. What I especially liked about this B&B was the outdoor terrace with its beautiful view.
B & B Waterland:
This B&B is located in the old polder landscape in the village of Middelie on Axwijk at number 7. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by Karin and Coen van der Kamp, the owners of this cozy B&B. The B&B is in the garden house, which can accommodate up to four people. The garden house is equipped with all conveniences and even has private sanitary facilities. Breakfast is served at your table in the morning, and, in good weather, this can also be arranged outside. The nice thing about this B&B is, again, the privacy and, of course, the beautifully landscaped garden in which the garden house is located.
B&B Onder aan de dijk:
As the name suggests, this B&B is located under the dyke in Warder. This is truly the definition of a nice and comfortable holiday cottage. It is again private and features a kitchen, a bathroom, a private terrace, a garden, a veranda, and a private entrance with parking. Breakfast is provided, and you can also comfortably stay here with children. There are two more beds in the loft next to the bedroom downstairs. The owners, Jennifer and René, ensure you have a great stay and are always available for questions. The most fun aspect of this B&B is the playful decoration and the comfortable interior.
B&B Het kerkje van Ethersheim:
This B&B is located in the former Dutch Reformed church of Ethersheim and stands only a few dozen meters from the Zuiderzeeroute along the IJsselmeer dyke. The church offers two rooms for bed & breakfast. One room is upstairs with a magnificent view of the Markermeer, and the other room downstairs features authentic elements. It is important to note that breakfast is vegetarian, but it is no less tasty than other types of breakfast. Between November 1 and April 1, this is served in the room. Breakfast in bed, how nice is that!
B&B Ora et Labor:
This B&B is located in the charming Beets at number 31B, in a farmhouse from 1913. Michiel and Marilyn are the owners of this B&B and welcome guests with great enthusiasm. The room in the B&B features a small kitchen, a sitting area, and a private bathroom. Guests are also allowed to use the garden, where there is a seating area and a barbecue. What’s fun about this B&B is not only the rural surroundings but also the free eggs in the morning. If the chickens have laid eggs, you can use them for breakfast. It does not get much fresher than that!
B&B Country & lake luxury Kaakberg:
This is a very special B&B located in a traditional haystack, also known as a “kaakberg,” and is run by Onny and Saskia Huisink-Janse. Two international theater makers who have decorated this B&B with three floors based on their many travels. If this is not a unique place to stay, I do not know what is. From the bedroom, there is a beautiful view of the Markermeer and the protected Natura 2000 landscape of the centuries old Zeevang polder. The haystack features a kitchen, a bathroom, a living room, bedrooms for four people, and a private terrace. In spring, the newborn lambs jump in the meadow—so cute! What makes this B&B particularly special is the accompanying spa facilities where you can enjoy a massage, jacuzzi, or sauna. This is truly the essence of ultimate enjoyment!
Hopefully, I have been able to inform, inspire, and perhaps even convince you to book one of these fantastic B&Bs mentioned above.
