B&Bs in the charming city of Edam

14 May 2024 - Kim Tol

Whether it's for a night away, a weekend, or a mid-week break, Edam offers plenty to see and do for both short and longer stays. If you want to fully immerse yourself in this city, often referred to as a miniature Amsterdam, then opting for a stay with the locals in one of the beautiful B&Bs below is a natural choice. Each of these B&Bs is a true gem where you'll have a delightful time. To make your choice a bit easier or perhaps harder, I'll tell you a bit more about these different B&Bs in this blog. Of course, I've personally checked out the B&Bs listed below, and how fun that was! A few mini-vacations in the city next to the village where you live, that was quite an experience but definitely worth it. Enough chatter, let me take you through my findings below.
Bed & Breakfast Edam:
Located in the Jacob Tonissenstraat in a residential house, this B&B sits along the river in a quiet neighborhood in Edam. Enjoying the terrace by the water is a treat in good weather. The rooms of this B&B are comfortably furnished and offer beautiful views of the garden and the surrounding fields. You can use the shared bathroom facilities located on both floors. A major plus point of this B&B is its proximity to the center of Edam. Also, the breakfast served by host Kees was more than sufficient. Another plus is the free parking near the B&B.

B&B Carla Lagerburg:
Carla's B&B is located on the outskirts of Edam, and what immediately caught my attention is the bus stop, which is 400 meters away from the B&B. I'd say that's a big plus. The rooms are homely and equipped with a TV and a washbasin. A shared bathroom is available. All rooms offer views of the North Holland polder and the IJsselmeer. If you're arriving by car, you can park for free on the premises. The biggest plus of this B&B is undoubtedly the extensive breakfast served in the morning. You can also stay in the charming garden house, where you'll truly unwind surrounded by nature.

B&B de Hooiberg Edam:
Located in Edam, just 20 meters from the dike and the IJsselmeer, this B&B is situated in a haystack with views of the lake, surrounded by a beautiful garden with terrace and various seating areas. The B&B is entirely private with its own entrance, which I personally found to be the biggest plus. Each room has its own bathroom and is stylishly but cozily furnished, including a dining area, kitchenette, and television. The landlord, Dirkjan, told me that the rooms have recently been rebuilt and restyled, and you can certainly see that. In the morning, you can enjoy a fresh breakfast, definitely worth writing home about.

B&B De Krasse Man:
Located in a quiet residential area close to the center of Edam, this B&B has a private entrance, which is a big plus. Another major plus is that not only continental but also vegetarian breakfast is served daily. The cottage is equipped with air conditioning and overlooks the garden. This B&B is small but lovely, and Tom and Griet make sure you lack nothing. You can enjoy the sun on the terrace, and there is parking available at the B&B itself.

KODA Edam:
One of my favorite B&Bs in Edam is KODA, located on Burgmeester Versteeghsingel. This B&B is quite new, and it shows. It's designed like a luxurious tiny house with a terrace and garden views. A staircase leads up to the loft where the sleeping area is located. On the ground floor, there's a kitchen, a sitting and dining area, and a luxurious bathroom. The B&B is centrally located and an ultimate base for exploring the city of Edam.

I hope I've been able to inform, inspire, and perhaps even convince you to book one of these fantastic B&Bs listed above. In my next blog, I'll tell you more about the B&Bs located in the Zeevang area, how I experienced them, and what you really need to know about these accommodations.
